Championship 2014

I still can’t believe it’s over. Seriously, somebody needs to pinch me.

This year’s FIRST World Championship was like no other. After the crazy day of set up on Wednesday… Thursday and Friday were filled with challenging qualification matches, programming errors, and mechanical issues. It seemed that after every match we rushed back to the pit to make adjustments. Of course, this did not discourage us. We felt so blessed to be there and enjoyed every second of the Championship. There were so many amazing teams that it seemed the dome could barely hold them all! When not busy with a scouting shift or a pit shift talking to the judges, the team ventured out to other pits and met teams from all over the World! This has always been one of my favorite parts of the Championship.

When it came time for the Chairman’s Presentation, a lot of the team came along with our three amazing presenters for support. As you can imagine, our presenters were nervous and excited at the same time. To be able to present for the CHAIRMAN’S AWARD at the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP was a huge honor and we felt incredibly blessed.

We got ANOTHER three teams interested in The Hero Project! The response we’ve had is wonderful. We also had a really cool visitor at our pit, Montel Williams, and he was really interested in our robot and project.

Being only a four year old team and qualifying for the Championship all four years is a pretty great accomplishment if you ask me and I think I speak for the entire team when I say that Up Next will only continue to raise the bar and strive for excellence.
